Why choose the London Eye Diagnostic Centre?

If you are a consultant

We have a wide range of diagnostic equipment operated by experienced staff. You can refer a patient for diagnostic tests and have the results emailed to you on the same day. We are happy to discuss your requirements for examinations and are open to referrals from all consultants.

If you are an optician

We understand opticians are at the front line of detecting eye problems and the need to get a definitive assessment to rule out doubt. You may have customers that you have screened but believe need further examination to confirm or rule out the possibility of problems such as glaucoma or age related macula degeneration. We are happy to arrange either tests or an appointment with one of our specialist consultants.

If you would like to be seen by one of our consultants

You might want to see one our specialist consultants for reasons that could include:

  • You have been diagnosed with an eye problem by an ophthalmologist
  • Your optician may have noticed something during an eye test.
  • You might want to have your eyes checked because you have noticed a change in your vision.
  • You fall into the most ‘at risk’ categories for eye problems such as:
  • Age - Age-related Macular Degeneration. (AMD) is the most significant cause of blindness in the developed world. In the UK AMD accounts for 42% of blindness in individuals aged 65-75*. This figure increases dramatically with age such that AMD accounts for 75% of blindness in those aged 85 and above. *
  • Smoking - After ageing, smoking is the biggest risk factor for developing macular degeneration. Smokers are also more likely to develop cataracts.
  • Diabetes – An added complication to having diabetes is that it can lead to Diabetic Retinopathy. This condition results in blood or fluid leaking from the retinal blood vessels into the retina, damaging the vision. When detected it can be treated to prevent further damage, but diabetics need regular screening to avoid the possibility of permanent vision loss.
  • Family history – the likelihood of developing conditions such as glaucoma and cataracts can be doubled if there is a family history of the condition.
  • High blood pressure – Hypertension can lead to Hypertensive Retinopathy which can lead to blood or fluid leaking from the retinal blood vessels into the retina, damaging the vision.

We can help you in all of these cases. Our world-class consultants cover a wide range of areas of expertise including glaucoma, cataracts, retina, ocular oncology and neuro-ophthalmology.
